NEWS
- The 2009 Proposed Budget will be mailed to all Members before November 15th, 2007. Members may respond in writing any of their concerns. The office must receive all correspondence before December 1st to allow the Board time to review them.
- 2009 (Proposed) Budget Presentation - Friday December 12th at 7:00pm-CFA Clubhouse during the regular meeting.
- 2009 Invoices will be mailed no later than December 15th. They are due and payable on January 1st, 2009 but no later than March 1st, 2009. If not paid by March 1st a $25.00 late charge will be assessed.
- On August 27, 2008 the State Highway Patrol Office notified Carolina Forest that a change in the Motor Vehicle Protection Act of 2006 affected enforcement of certain laws inside gated communities. The definition of "Public Vehicular Access Area" was expanded to include a road used by vehicular traffic within or leading to a gated or non-gated subdivision or community. Certain laws may be enforced in these areas including, Driving While Impaired, Reckless Driving, Exceeding a Safe Speed and Safe Movement Violations.
- Montgomery County sponsors a low-subsidized Spay/Neuter Assistance program for your pets. This program is available to individuals with annual incomes up to $32,903.00. The applicant must be a resident of Montgomery County and only two pets per family may apply per year. You can apply for an application by sending a note requesting an application to: The Montgomery County Spay/Neuter Assistance Program, PO Box 425, Troy, NC 27371.
- The CFA Storage area is available for owners to store for boats, trailers, and campers. If you put something in that area please contact the office with the site number where your property is parked and the type of property that you are storing. Please remember if you store something in this area it can't remain there any longer than 1-year before it has to be moved. CFA is not responsible for any damages or theft of items placed is this area.
- Dannie Cox and The Marina Committee have scheduled a Volunteer Work Day for Saturday, November 1st at 9:00 am at the CFA marina. If you’re interested, bring a hammer and cordless drill. We’ll be doing minor maintenance on rotted deck boards and replacing nails with screws where possible.
- The CFA Campground will close on Saturday November 15th and the bathhouse will be winterized.
- Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday November 2nd
- Carolina Forest now has local newspaper boxes for residents who wish to purchase newspapers. We currently have the Montgomery Post, The Stanly News and Press, and the Charlotte Observer.
- Due to a $7.50 fuel charge on all ice deliveries we have had to increase the sale price of ice from $1.75 to $2.00 per bag.
- Due to excellent resource management on the part of Progress Energy, Lake Tillery was the only area lake that was maintained at “full pond” throughout the extensive 2008 drought.
- Rick Lynthacum resigned from the CFA Board on October 10th. Dolly Tyndall was appointed to serve the remaining 8 months of this term per CFA by laws. We’d like to thank Rick for his selfless service to CFA and wish him well!
IMPROVEMENTS
- White vinyl fencing has been installed in front of the Clubhouse.

ENTERTAINMENT
- The Annual CFA Halloween Party will be held on Saturday, October 25th. From Michelle King, Entertainment Committee Chair: “We will have TRICK OR TREAT again this year. This is our third year and each year more people have added their house to the stops. If you would like to give out candy, please contact Michelle King @ 572-3977, or let CFA office know by Monday, Oct 20th. I will need your address and lot #. If you kept the pumpkin yard sign from last year, please let me know that too. The time will be from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. We will deliver a yard sign to put at the street for each house that wants to participate before the 25th. We will put together a map of all the houses passing out candy and give it to the kids who will be Trick or Treating. ALL children are welcome to Trick or Treat. Please help make this a fun and safe afternoon!
- The Halloween Party will begin at 6:00. We will have a Cake Walk, please consider bringing a cake, or cup cakes for this fun game.
- The Haunted Trail/ Hayride will run during the party. Anyone interested in volunteering with the haunted trail, please contact Mike Black @ 571-0120 or Mark McLean @ 572-3977 as soon as possible.
- Breakfast with Santa - Saturday, December the 13th. Contact Michelle King at 572-3977 or anyone else on the Entertainment Committee for more details.
