1.North Carolina Law has
extended the expiration of some Wastewater (perc) Permits. Permits issued
between Jan 2003 and Dec 2007 have been extended 3 years. Permits issued
between Jan 1, 2008 and Dec 31, 2010 (9 months from now) all expire on Dec 31,
2015. Any permits issued on/after Jan 1, 2011 expire 5 years from issue
date (back to the old rules). A permit issued this week will only be good
for 5 years, 9 months.
Bottom line, this is a one-time extension that decreases in value day
for day on permits issued since Jan 2008. Example: A Waste Water
Permit issued on July 21, 2008 originally expired on July 20, 2013. Now
it expires Dec 31, 2015, only a 17 month (vice 3 year) extension.
